Project Description
PROJECT AIM
Rugby7Girls is a project initiated by a consortium made of 4 countries from different bodies active in the field of sport (a school of coaches and a rugby club in Romania are the initiators of this project) that want to change the perception of women’s rugby in Europe.
The main problem identified by the members of our consortium is the lack of skills of coaches in the women’s rugby sector. The Rugby7Girls project’s aim is to promote education in and through sport with special focus on skills development of coaches interested in women’s rugby.
During this short period we managed to promote to the OLIMP CENTER FOR YOUTH 4 sports and to the NATIONAL SENIOR TEAM 2 sports.
OBJECTIVES
- Promote education in and through sport with special focus on skills development: our project will develop the skills and competences of the members of the consortium and about 100 local coaches/high school sport teachers that will be trained in the methods of coaching in women’s rugby during the entire period of the project.
- Encourage equal opportunities in sport - Rugby in the world over is male-dominated and controlled. The coaches usually concentrate on the development of boys and men in rugby, with little support given to the growth of women’s rugby. At last year’s Women’s Rugby World Cup in Ireland, just one of the 12 competing nations had a female head coach. We strongly believe that our project will also increase the number of female players and coaches in women’s rugby.
- Support the mobility of volunteers, coaches, managers and staff of non-profit sport organisations: we have previewed 4 transnational meetings that will encourage the mobility of coaches and local coordinators of the project.
